How to Measure a Room 1.) Get out your trusty tape measure. 2.) Draw the shape of the room. It doesn't need to be pretty or to scale. (see example A below) 3.) Start at any end and measure the length of each wall around the room and note in the appropriate places on your drawing. You have now measured the main portion of the room. 4.) Measure the ceiling height, starting from the floor to ceiling. 5.) Note the windows on drawing. (see example A below) 6.) Note how high off the floor each window is. (see example A below) 7.) Note the height of each window. 8.) Note the width of each window. 9.) Note the location and sizes of any other items in the room. Such as fireplace, built-in cabinets, niches, etc. 10.) If extra detail is needed it is suggested to draw an elevation. (see example B below) Great Job! When you are done measuring you should have something that looks like the exampled A and B drawings below. Now submit this drawing to Annie.
