I'm very excited to share with you this design consult in Orange County California. I helped this family a few short years ago with their living room. It was great to see them return for guidance on their Master Bedroom. The mission was to create a rustic modern Master Bedroom with a hint of farmhouse. An affordable option to a full room design is the Decorator in a Box design consult. A consult includes detailed notes on sizes, furniture ideas, color and style. I even provide direction on where to shop for those pieces. In addition I provide a furniture plan and vision board. This is a bit different than a full design as a it does not include a detailed shopping list. The consult provides you with notes and ideas from me to do the shopping and sourcing on your own. Which is what make the price more affordable. It's a great option for clients that love to shop, research on their own and source items. The consult notes, plan and vision boards keep them headed in the right direction. The best part is that it's about half the price of one of my full room design.
Here is a glance at this consult in Orange County. I can't wait to see the room come together! Tell me about your project. I will create a custom online interior design to meet your style and budget. All done from the comfort of your home computer. Just follow the four easy and fun steps on the website to be on your way. Click here to get started! Xo, Annie

This project is near and dear to me because I have been working with this family for many years. When I started Decorator in a Box 8 years ago they were actually one of my first clients. Which is saying a lot because online interior design was a completely new concept. Just look at this before & after rustic modern dining room transformation! This whole remodel was a bit forced on them due to some water damage when a pipe burst. That's why it brings me great joy to see them at the end of this remodel and starting to enjoy the space. It's what I love most about being an interior designer. Tell me about your project. Whether it's a simple pillow or art refresh to a full on remodel Decorator in a Box can help. Xo, Annie afterbeforeafterbeforeHappy weekend all! I'm getting a lot of emails and questions about the IKEA family office photos I posted a few weeks ago. It has flown by at our house. I have been wanting to show you this Washington Cabin Decorator in a Box for several weeks. It relates to what so many people are doing during this time by converting dining rooms into home school areas. Here is a quick look. I can't wait to show you photos when it's complete. I created this design for a return client in Washington State. Their main residence is in Seattle. Since the area was hit hard with COVID the family of four decided to take the kids and head to their family ski cabin. The kids were now having school at home so they needed to turn this dining room into a multi use space. It needed to function as a dining room , home office, play and school space. They also decided to create a cozier Master Bedroom to retreat to. The mission for the Master Bedroom was to bring in that cozy cabin style in a modern way. Adding storage and new furniture that fit the space was key. I used their existing vintage secretary chest while incorporating some more modern pieces. Layering cozy stripe and plaid bedding brings in the cabin vibe. The gallery wall over the bed brings in the charm. The Dining Room needed to be functional for dining, entertaining as well as storing toys, board games and school supplies. Plus a command center with calendar and white board was a must for this new role as home school parents. Most importantly we needed to add a rustic modern cabin style. Here is a look at the vision board and furniture plan for the space. I think the mission was accomplished. I look forward to showing you photos when the space is complete. Tell me about your space. I know in this changing time we are turning dining rooms into home school areas and children's bedrooms now need a place for school work. I will create a custom and affordable design to meet your style, budget and most importantly your needs. I work with what you have and sprinkle in a few new pieces or start from scratch. Follow the four fun and easy steps below and be on your way.

I have several New York clients that have been with me from the start. I give them credit for launching my Decorator in a Box business almost 10 years ago now. At the time there were only a couple other online interior design businesses. It was the New Yorker's who instantly got this new concept of ordering a design online. I can't thank them enough.
It was such a joy to work on this back pool patio design for one of my favorite return New York clients. I hope being outdoors in this space can bring them lots of peace and comfort. At least this pandemic can't take away our outdoor living spaces. Let's start your custom Decorator in a Box today! Xo, Annie Little did I know when we got out family office up and running a few weeks ago it would be just in time. Just in time for quarantine and homeschooling during this interesting time we are all living in. Yes my new full time office buddy is my eight year old daughter. Thanks to her awesome teachers this has been pretty fun and nice to have her home. She is also a ton of help with her three old Sister. We have been slowly remodeling our 1980's home. This home adorned wall to wall carpet and honey oak. Let me tell you nothing felt better than ripping that all out. My husband and I have been doing the work ourselves. When I say we I mean he does all the work while I do the designing portion. I'm also good at running to Home Depot for things he needs. This office was once the formal living room at the front of our house. It is the first room you see when you enter our home. It use to make me crazy because it was used as our playroom. Therefore, the first thing you would see was a mess of toys upon entering our home. When we moved in four years ago we never intended for this to be a formal living room. We just aren't formal people. We knew a sofa and chairs would not get any use in this space. Instead we knew our family of four would use an office/den everyday almost all day. We created this look with a lot of IKEA. We finished it off with a little Overstock.com, World Market and Target. We are still working on filling the frames with our favorite family photos and memories. I would also like to add pulls to dress up the drawers a bit. The bay window also needs a big cozy cuddle chair and ottoman soon. These things will come, but for now we are already really enjoying this space. I know I will miss my little office pal when it's time to go back to school again. However it will be our homework hangout. Stay tuned for more details to be added as this room progresses. I hope this gives you some inspiration for creating a more functional space in your home. If you have a room that feels too formal or has been taken over by toys consider creating a space that will get more use from the whole family. Would you like some help? Xo, Annie BeforeMy favorite days are the days I get to see a Decorator in a Box come to life. When clients send me their "after" photos I can't help but do a little happy dance. I usually do this sitting at my desk with my arms waving in the air with jazz hands. This family moved to a larger apartment in Brooklyn, NY. A few years prior I created a nursery and bedroom design when they were expecting their first child. With a growing family they needed a larger space. I created a design for their new apartment great room. The design was equipped with comfortable TV viewing, reading nook and entry storage. This apartment also has a nook I designed to be a family and kids play area. Then to top off the design we made the basement more cozy for the kids to play and the family to hang together. The basement is right off the outdoor patio so I see this getting a lot of use this Summer. Here is a look at how this minimalist and Scandinavian modern design came together. I love how clean and organic everything looks. It functions so well with lots of storage to hide away toy clutter. Mission accomplished! Tell me about space. Decorator in a Box can help you with a remodel project to a simple art selection. No design project is too big or small for online interior design. Send me an email and we can discuss pricing and create a game plan that meets your personal style and budget. I look forward to hearing from you! Xo, Annie Living Space AfterLiving Space BeforeKids Play Nook AfterKids Play Nook BeforeBedroom & Nursery AfterBedroom & Nursery AfterBasement AfterBasement BeforeI'm thrilled to share this San Diego Kitchen transformation with you. It was one of my favorite remodel projects last Summer. This home under went a major remodel after water damage from a pipe burst. It was a forced remodel for this family which is never fun to have as your Summer is starting out or anytime. I think all the headache was worth it after seeing this design come to life. The main thing that drove this project was the Kitchen island. The clients knew they needed to seat their family of six which they could not in the old kitchen. Sitting together for family meals was key. Therefore the island is all new custom cabinets. Isn't it gorgeous?! That white oak those natural quartizite stone countertops! We used as many of the undamaged cabinets as possible by painting them around the perimeter. Most of the white and gray cabinets you see are the original cabinets that have been painted. Isn't it amazing how you can't even tell we re-used the old cabinets?! The clients also had a dream of open shelves which gives this space a completely new look. The power of cosmetic changes like paint, countertops, tile and shelves? My favorite features are the new floors and the tile wall with open shelves and sconces. Wait...I take that back it's too hard to choose I love it all!
This design was all done from afar like all of my designs. I emailed and mailed the client their Decorator in a Box with everything they needed to hand off to the contractor. It took all the guessing out of the project. When your undergoing a remodel there is so much to think about. It's overwhelming. It helps to have an interior designer guide you with all the selections. That way you won't make any costly mistakes. Before I sent the completed design there was a lot of brainstorming and sketching of the island layout with the clients. Then after they received the design I was available to answer any questions they had or to make design tweaks. They had a clear vision to hand off to their contractor to start executing the design. JMW Custom Home Builders did a great job on the execution. Tell me about your project. No matter the size of the project I'm here to help. Whether it's a kitchen or bath remodel to selecting art and pillows Decorator in a Box will work for you. I will work with your personal style and Pinterest inspiration boards.
