This was a special design for me. It's special because I designed this bedroom about six or more years ago. So..the " before" photos you see are actually the original design. It's crazy to think now how brown was a popular color back then. The new design mission was to take this bedroom from little girl to teen bedroom that is more her style and function today. The part that was the most fun for me was looking at her inspiration boards on Pinterest. Her pins of minimalist Scandinavian style with a ultra pale color palette had me thrilled to get started. She is a California girl who loves to surf any chance she get's. Therefore, some coastal bohemian accent touches were a must. She's also an aspiring designer and needed a multi-use work space for sewing, art and homework. I re-used the practical and well functioning IKEA desk by adding a art/sewing cart with drawers in the closet design. The design challenge was to create more storage space. She likes a minimalist look, but she also has a lot of collectibles and books. The clutter was minimized by adding a new closet design, storage bed and bookcases. Here is a look at the little girl bedroom turned California teen dreamy bedroom.
