Yea it’s that time of year again! Halloween is hands down one of my favorites. We are gearing up to carve pumpkins this week. We are going with the classic carving technique. My five year old has never done it this way before and it’s so much fun to scoop out the pumpkin mess. I love all the beautifully chic ideas that pop up on Pinterest. One of these days I’m going to venture out and try a more designer pumpkin. Right now I just love to Pinterest scan the pumpkin eye candy of these fun ideas. They are so lovely I would hate to throw them away. Happy Halloween All! Often times when you update your home it makes other rooms look more out of date. It can be a domino. This can be frustrating when you invested a lot of money in furniture and now it doesn’t match the rest of the home. Often times you can keep the large pieces like your sofa and coffee table. Then just update the art, pillows and key accessories. This was the case with the recent Den update in New York. By changing the rug, pillows, art and built-in accessories we made this room match the updated Kitchen. No need to reupholster that sofa when pillows are so powerful. Here is a little peek at the design. Of course all design details and shopping list are for the client. Do you have a room that needs an update? Let’s take a look and come up with a plan that meets your needs. With a custom Decorator in a Box I can mail you a design that meets your style and budget. Xo, Annie CategoriesI have said it before and I’ll say it again. Taking your formal living/dining space and converting it into an office/den is a smart solution. Well that is if you work a lot from your home office. This also works nicely if you have kids of homework age. Formal rooms do not get used in our house. Our family likes to hang in the kitchen and family room. This creates wasted space and which then takes up space in my brain thinking of design solutions. That is why I’m now pinning away family office ideas for our formal living room. I envision a space where my husband and I can both work at the same time. Plus my daughters can sit with us doing their homework. I don’t know when this will happen, but for now my design wheels are turning and will be until I make this ideas come to life. Would you turn your formal dining or living room into a den or office? Do you need help with a space in your home? Let me help with all those tough design decisions. Let’s start a custom Decorator in a Box today. I will create a design that meets your style, needs and budget. Xo, Annie CategoriesI enjoyed a great family weekend on the North Shore of Minnesota. It was a beautiful kick off to Fall. A weekend of local pie eating, water fall viewing and gazing at the best lake of them all Lake Superior. Now I’m back to finding inspiration on Pinterest for my next Decorator in a Box. My business depends on Pinterest a great deal. It’s always my starting point with clients. I tell them to show me their pins. This always gets me headed in the right style direction. It helps me clearly see their room vision and then take it to the next level. I just discovered Pinterest’s 100 for 2016. It’s 100 of their most trending pins from the most influential pinners. My favorite are the top 10 home predictions. It’s nice to take all the guessing and opinions out of what a trend is. Pinterest can actually see what a trend is. According to their 100 million users it looks like gray tones, geo tile and Scandi design inspiration are here to stay for a while. Here are my favorite five of the Pinterest home trend predictions. What pinners trend will you add to your home? You can always just start by pinning it. #1 Geo Tile – Whether it’s in your entry, powder bath or dining room this modern floor is sure to have some major style impact. erin williams design//elle decoration 2. Scandinavian Inspired Design – It’s clean, simple and cozy with texture. Look to the Scandinavians for your next style inspiration. my scandinavian home #3 Shades of Gray – Gone are the days of gold walls and beige. It’s all about gray and it will be for a while. Lonny Mag//feed puzzle #4 Woven Wall Decor – These wall hangings can be d.i.y or found on Etsy. Whichever way you choose to get your woven wall hanging going it’s a decor must. I personally love them in nursery decor. woven laine//kipi blog #5 Black and White Interiors – Black and white can have just as much impact as color. Especially, when a deep thinking Bob Dylan poster is involved. elle decor//aesthetic oiseau CategoriesHere’s a sneak peek at a Decorator in a Box dining room design on it’s way to New York. I’m especially excited about this design because it’s a traditional home with a modern twist. This house is an old English Tudor that the owners have updated. They lightened all the dark wood paneling by staining it a lighter gray. They also lightened all the floors. Traditionally when you walk into an English Tudor home it can feel very dark. Not the case with this update. This design will now take a modern twist even farther with it’s decor. Good design is finding that balance of old with new and modern with traditional. Mixing juxtaposing accents like a vintage rug with a modern table can really create interest. Adding more classic accessories such as chinoiserie ginger jars with modern furnishings gives a space that twist. It gives a space that wow factor. Here is a sneak peek at the design.
